Soft Skill importance in MBA program


There was a time when people used to think that to handle business one has to be ruthless and practical, as it was considered that one who thinks with his mind and not with his heart. So, people were not acquainted with the concept of soft skills, it was entirely alien even for people who were associated with various business purview. However, with the passage of time, corporate world have realized the need for having professional possessing equilibrium of intellect and emotions, thus, many B-schools, nowadays, put equal weight to fundamentals of business transactions and soft skills for their MBA programs.
In a competitive business scenario one needs to have certain personal attributes like leadership qualities, courage and intellect to take calculative risks, good communication skills which include strong convincing powers and humble attitude as well as should possess social grace. Hence, management institutes groom the students of MBA course to master these qualities as well.   
Business is no less than a battlefield, where only a person with a clear focus and cool and composed temperament can lead his team out of the worst time like economic setback and global recession. Sessions on soft skills during the MBA programs makes them more focused towards their goal as well as can retain their composure during rough times. These sessions include various mental exercises, Yoga and lectures by experts to prepare them for any situation.

It is the skill to communicate with top executives with required humility and assertiveness that can make a lasting impression. It teaches to convince the other person to purchase your products and services and also not to be too assertive or pushy to crack any business deal.

During the session on soft skills in their MBA program management students learns to adapt with other people in the group and work as a team and not as an individual. Few years back; say a decade ago, the concept of “Soft skills”, was an alien concept for many Indians. However, with increasing globalization and outsourcing, Indian business corporate community is getting more and more interested to hire professionals how are well versed with the soft skills. The entrepreneur and executives of large corporations have realized the significance of soft skills which includes personality traits, good communication skills and social etiquettes for the successful business deals  which has resulted in implementation of  soft skills in regular curriculum by many B-schools for MBA programs.
